More than a year - is this a normal waiting list time for SALT?

DD was referred to SALT service at 2.4 for problems with expressive language. Seen for an initial assessment 11 months ago. HV chased it up for me today and was told that the list is now well over a year.

Is this usual?

depends on your area, the group you are waiting for and the severity of the problems. However that is excessive. Our wait for early years team was 12 weeks and are now back on list for the expressive language group ourselves. hopefully won'tbe anything like a year!

Ours is a 6mth wait for an assessment and another 6mths for actual therapy. That's considered to be fairly quick.
