Shoes for a 4 year old!

Has anyone else been through this stage and have any advice?
Ever since my 4 year old learnt to put his shoes on he has been a nightmare with them. He gets into SUCH a fluster when they don't go on easily and it almost always ends up in a tantrum/meltdown. He has one style of Velcro shoes he seems to be quite happy with but I obviously want to get him away from this only style because I'm worried about his school shoes come September! He now will only wear said pair of Nike trainers and I can't bare to look at them anymore! 🙈 Will this phase ever pass 😰

DS is 3.5 and will also be going to school in September. He can only do his wellies and his velcro trainers on his own. i'm planning on buying school shoes with velcro on. Then buying a pair of shoes with laces to wear in the Summer holidays (probably trainers) for us to practice on every day. There's too much going on at nursery at the moment for me to contemplate starting now, hence starting in Summer when he's a bit less tired!
