So my 9 year talks constantly which is fine. But he talks over people which I find quite rude. A couple of examples we bumped into the neighboyrs on the way in yesterday. He spoke for 5 minutes tell the neighbours all about his game. No one interuppyed him. Then the conversation moved on but he didnt stop talking. He talked over both me and his dad and the neighbour. He got told to stop 4 times that it was rude but he didnt stop. For the whole 20 minute interaction he only stopped talking for about 15 seconds after he was given out to.
Last week I was talking to my mum on zoom. He had his turn to chat. It was then my turn to chat so I said it's my turn. He kept talking over me. I said to stop talking over me 5 times and so did his dad. So he stopped talking an sat behind me shouting ahhh while banging the toddlers toys as hard as he can.
We have tried ignoring the behaviour, discipline him by removing screens but I'm at my wits end. Were supposed to go away with friends over the summer and I'm dreading it because he doesnt give anyone else a chance and I want to talk to my friends. So I either spend the holiday telling him to stop ( then I'm the bad guy as dad does nothing) or I let him dominate the whole thing. I would never have dared talk over my mum in this way at that age.
Have other people had this problem? If so how do you deal with it.
