Parents showering/bathing with toddler

Hello all,
I recently talked to a friend of mine who thinks the following is very odd:
When my toddler (2) takes a bath, i stand in the bathtub and shower. After i sit down with him and play a little with him before we both get out together.

Is it really so wrong? I grew up with an "open minded family", where we never locked bathroom doors. So if there was a family member already in shower, you were allowed to enter.
If anything, it gave me confidence as i never felt uncomfortable in my own skin in front of my family nor strangers.

Soooo. How weird do you think this is? Hmm

I bath and shower with my 2 year old . I don’t think it’s weird at all . As he gets older I’ll stop but for now it works .

Thanks for sharing.
I know my husband grew up in a rather Conservative household. Nudity was something to be ashamed off. Kids and parents were hiding from one another when they got changed.
I personally do not want my children to grow up like that.
Each to their own i guess.

It isn't weird at all. It's totally just down to preference I think. For example, I like to have my bath or shower in peace. I also like it to be scalding hot! I have a 16 year old and a 2 year old and I've never bathed with either. I don't think it's weird either though, it's just what suits you.

Not weird at all. Totally normal in our house.

Purplelooby · 21/03/2021 21:44

Definitely not weird. So far from weird in fact that I would call it completely normal.

Not weird because I have to. I can't leave ds 2 unsupervised while I shower or I can't shower after ds sleeps because it makes too much noise. I get in with him and get out before so I can dry while he continues playing but of course I'm literally like a hawk when getting dressed at arms length incase he falls or slips under water. It's not weird and some people don't have a choice. Before I used to put ds in his infant car seat and bring it to the bathroom as I took a shower because the amounts of times I tried to shower when I thought he was napping made me come out the shower with unwashed hair to calm him down. It was easier to just bring him in his car seat instead of imagining hearing crying.

Thanks ladies.
It does make me feel better. It works perfect for us. Was just surprised to see her reaction to our bath routine.
Im glad to learn that its normal after all xx
