6 month old and 2 1/2 year old to share bedroom-how can I stop it turning into a circus!?

In a month or so I would like my ds2 (4months) to start sleeping ds1's (2.4) bedroom. Does anyone have any experience of this? Ds1 is still in cot but it is getting quite small for him. If he starts sleeping in a bed I might need some sort of protective cover for ds2! All tips appreciated.

Can't help I'm afraid, but I'm in a similar situation in a few months so I'll be watching this thread for ideas.

I moved my dd's in together when dd2 was 8m and dd1 was 3.4yrs. It has worked really well. Dd2 is still her cot (it is cot bed size) at 2, we will be moving her out in a month or so. There is a bit of mayhem at night which I ignore as long as it is not too noisy and they stay in room. In the mornings it is wonderful as dd2 has always woken about 6 am and now she has her big sister to entertain her so I don't have to. Also dd2 sleeping improved when we put them together.

Thanks Elk, it sounds like it happened pretty smoothly. I like the entertaining in the mornings bit

I might be worth beginning to tell ds1 that "when he get's bigger he will be allowed to sleep with ds2". That way he might see it as a treat rather than something he has to put up with IYSWIM.

My 2 are about the same age as yours and although they have their own rooms they do share when we have visitors. DS1 thinks it is such fun. He is in a bed and we've had no problems. (Except that when DS2 starts to cry DS1 joins in with a ridiculous baby impression.)

Good luck!
