Sleep issues at nursery

So my 15 month old son has just began sleeping through the night and having a 2 hour nap between 12-2 daily. Rarely have any issues now.

However he started back at nursery last week and the most he's slept for his nap is 45 minutes. Today his journal says 25 minutes 😩

I've gave them his sleep bag and asked them to try to get him back down if he wakes up early but nothing is working. He only goes to nursery Monday and Tuesdays and I'm assuming it's the different environment etc but he's constantly shattered! He can barely keep his eyes open when I pick up at 4.30 and is then having to go to sleep for 6pm which means an earlier rise.

Any ideas??

My daughter was the exact same at nursery. They just couldn't get her to sleep long because there was too much going on in the nursery. She just became accustomed to it. She would have a two hour nap on days she was at home and on days she was at nursery, about half an hour max. It just became her routine eventually. They can't force them back to sleep unfortunately, it must be difficult!

Probably not much you or nursery can do. I would just keep things really wound down and stimulation free once she gets home... few books with the lights dim or heaven forbid a bit of TV and then don't be afraid to move bedtime forward a bit. It won't be forever. X

DS is 21 months and usually sleeps 12-2 at home but the 3 days he is at nursery he absolutely will not sleep. At all. I've told them not to worry now as other than being a bit grumpy before bed he seems to manage ok.

It is having a bad knock on effect not having longer?

Thanks ladies! Seems more common than I thought!

@CreamFirstThenJamOnTop I mean probably not as much as I thought - he is super cranky! He comes home from nursery at 4.30 then it's dinner bath n straight to bed. He usually goes to bed back of 7 but after nursery he's sleeping for 6, which is then meaning he's up a litter earlier. I mostly worry about him being tired n upset in nursery, when he's tired he just wants cuddles and is usually stuck to me like glue so I hate the thought of him being in there with no mummy cuddles when he's feeling that tired 😢x

@xxxbabyno1 my 16mo is with a nanny daytime and he would sleep longer for me at home (sometimes 1,5h and sometimes even longer) but with the nanny he does 60mins sharp. I just put him to bed a bit earlier in the evening making sure he has at least 12-13 hours of sleep a day and if cranky even more. I worry about nursery and sleep too, to be honest, same for the cuddles, makes me anxious as well.
