One arm flailing-repetitive hand movements

My baby is almost 6 months old and just started 2 new things that seem strange.

  1. She lifts one arm ...sometimes both but usually the right arm and moves it kind of in a circle amd brings it down hard. Sometimes with a toy in hand and then smacks the hand or the toy down. Noticed some frustration and this motion happening also with a couple toys she was trying to manipulate. But it also happens when she ia not playing. It seems sort of involuntary and has been happing constantly for past couple days. Not sure if it is figuring out arms or what.
  1. She started opening and closing hands constantly throught the day past couple days also. She looks at it intently.

Ive read forums where some say its normal and some that indicating both as stims associated with autism. Can anyone tell me if they had these happen with their babies? And if its normal. Esp the first one. Ive not gotten much info on this one

My first son did both! I too worried about autism but looking back it was clearly just a baby stim. Babies are very stimmy by nature. He's a very neurotypical 3 year old now. By all means ask the HV for advice but I really wouldn't worry :)

The watching hands was a developmental milestone when my oldest was born (20 years ago) so nothing to worry about.
