My 3 year old is very whiny and I don’t know how to deal with his behaviour sometimes.
An example is before we left the house he said he didn’t want to wear his gloves so I popped them in the car (car is parked seconds away). As soon as I start driving he asks for his gloves, I say you can have them when I stop driving, cue him screaming and crying.
Another example, he wants me to sit with him whilst I start cooking tea, so I say I will in a minute, so he then starts screaming/shouting and trying to push me into the lounge.
I do use the time out step occasionally but I try to explain stuff to him or distract him but it’s driving me crazy!
Me and his dad aren’t together anymore and his dad is really strict with him and also doesn’t give him much 1-2-1 attention (just sits on his phone whilst ds plays with his toys) so I think he plays up for me as 1. He gets attention off me and not dad and 2. I’m his safe place. He knows he can have a melt down and I won’t start shouting, dragging him to the naughty step etc
