My dd 3.11 seems to get very tired. She sleeps 12 hours a night but always seems to be tired. She eats well , loads of fruit and veg . Is it normal for her to be like this? My friends have boys who bounce off the walls all day so not much to compare it to.She also has these spots on her body a little like whiteheads, has anybody seen anything like this. My mum says I had these when I was younger and it was an allergy to soap. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Gp isnt much use so sont fancy a visit unless I think something may be wrong

Not sure about the spots - but dd2 is very simliar to this, and completely opposite to her older sister, who stopped napping in the day age one !
DD2 gets very tired after nursery, and she only goes 3 mornings a week ! Also one hour of ballet knackers her for rest of day, while big sis is still raring to go.
DD2 is 3 and 7 months.
But In guess its worth checking with dr if you worried about her.

thanks chakins. I dont think I am worried about her , but as I dont have any other children and I am not particuarly a worrier I just wondered if she was ok. Thanks for replying. At least she is not alone.

I have a nearly-4 year old and she can swing from being live-wire one day and docile the next. She occasionally sleeps in the day and often falls asleep if we're in the car. She can get really tired after nursery, too.

My DS is 3.3 and can live without sleep, and always has been able to! He goes ot bed at 7am and can be up as early as 5.30am, bright as a button and ready for the day, absolutely wide awake. He doesn't EVER nap in the day either.

His little friend from nursery goes to bed about 7.30am and regularly sleeps in until gone 9am (later at weekends when he's not woken up). He will often go back to bed after lunch (midday-ish) and sleep until 3pm or later if not woken. He is really really tired if he is late for his nap.

I wouldn't worry about your DD, I just think all children are different. Its just a shame my DS isn't the sleeper kind!

Sorry, his friend goes to bed at 7.30pm!

might be worth mentionning to gp in case it is something simple like anaemia...i'm not sure from what you said if this is a change for her...i'd be more worried if it was and if her routine hasn't changed much..

my dd is the same age and doesn't stop until bedtime but my friends dd still needs a reg nap....

My DD often looks really tired, bags under eyes etc despite 11-12 hours sleep a night. She keeps going though and seems happy enough in herself. She is 4 years 4 months and I get the feeling she is just growing and devoloping rapidly both mentally and physically. My DS is a year and a half and looks pink cheeked and healthy constantly despite being a dynamo ( i however look exhausted after chasing him all day!) DD recently had a check up and everything is fine- i guess just a look some of them have!
