My DD is 9weeks and from birth prefers being held whilst sleeping. I spent weeks persevering and could get her down 9-11 then would feed her/keep trying to settle her until 3amish where she would then sleep 3/4hrs.
Beginning of this week I was managing to settle her down between 2.30 and 3am and she’d wake up between 6am and 7am. Then Tue night it took me until 4am to settle her but then she slept until 9am. Wed night I gave up at 4.45 and got my partner up to take over as I was just exhausted. He’s working so I like to let him sleep through main part of night. Then last night I slept 10-12 while partner had her and battled through to 5.45 where I just laid her next to me as I was so exhausted.
I really don’t know what to do now to get her sleeping. I swaddle her and feed her and she’ll fall asleep but within minutes of being laid in Moses basket she’ll cry, often sick too so can’t just leave her. I’ve been keeping heating on overnight as she seemed to initially sleep better with heating on. Tried lullabies and white noise from YouTube but again once laid down it’s minutes until she awake and crying.
I don’t want to co sleep as don’t want her in habit of sleeping in bed. Had that with my oldest and it was hard to finally get him to sleep in his cot. Can’t just give up and go with the sleep when baby does as homeschooling doesn’t make this practical! Usually bath her on eve with Johnson’s bedtime bath and try to have peaceful evening but it’s difficult when DSS 6yrs here as he louder than my older 2! She is my 3rd but harder to remember what was like with my older 2 as they teens now but I remember they would wake up for feeding and changing but usually could settle them back down afterwards even if it took couple attempts just with this little one she just keeps refusing!! Partner wasn’t living with DSS mum when he was born so he hasn’t really got any experience of settling down tiny baby.
Any advice/tips would be greatly received.
