Please 😣 help

My son is 2 in about 4 weeks ans not talking at all. I am so worried about in we have been having zoom SALT but they are not telling me to do anything I am not already doing. He is still not saying anything and I am so worried. Is there something else going on and he's been reffered for an assessment with child health but it's a 2 year waiting list. Anyone able to help or advise on private SALT in Llanelli/Swansea area

How’s his hearing/reaction to noises etc?

Mumofboy09876 · 04/02/2021 23:31

Louise trees his hearing is fine he's had a hearing test. They just say it's fine moving forward. There is history of glue ear but all clear now. He's fine with nose dances when we put the music on

I wouldn’t worry too much, my son only started speaking single words 5 months after turning 2, he’s now 3.3 and he’s ok with sentences sometimes can seem unclear to outsiders. His speech picked up a lot after starting nursery, SALT didn’t have any worries with my son at 2 as he could say 10 single words and understand things such as fetching toys asked, pointing and guiding adults to what he wanted.

My daughter was the same. She did have glue ear and when it cleared they sent someone to her playgroup to work with her once a week for a few weeks. It's quite common. She is 5 now and sometimes she mispronounces words but otherwise is doing very well. At 2 she said no words except mam. She now communicates just fine and is doing really well with her schoolwork.

Is there any other sign of behaviour that worries you? Is there any sound making? Is there any trying to talk?

My DD didn't even say mama on her second birthday.
She'll be 3 in April and is talking in full sentences, her first word was the number 8 at about 2.2 then the next 6mo her language just took off.

Does he point to things to draw your attention to them?

Yes he's no responding to his name. Will not look when I point at thing. He will babble all day. This week he's is trying more to copy words. He said no tjis week after copying from his sibling.
