2.5yo spitting out food

Hi all,
My 2.5yr old has been really good with eating his food cut into sizeable pieces sat up the dinner table on his toddler chair but has recently taken to chewing his food and then spitting it out everywhere. He has also started to stand up on his chair and face the other way, etc. Any ideas on how I can discourage the spitting out of half chewed food. It's not like it's just one type of food, it's everything! I've asked him why and he says he doesn't know. He isn't mature enough yet to explain his feelings, etc. Any ideas please?? Thanks!

I would just ignore it. It is a phase that will pass. The more attention you pay to it the more he will want to do it.

Are you worried he will fall off the chair when he stands on it? Many children that age would not want to sit down calmly for a meal. I leave some food out for my youngest - who is 2 - and she eats part of it and goes off to play, and then finishes the rest when she feels like it.

My daughter has been doing the same with all food I give her. She is 2.3. I started doing the same as the person above now as it's the only way she will eat right now
