Blinds and Child Safety

Hi All, I had a blind professionally fitted today. A roller blind with a breakaway cord. The fitter advised that he could not fit the tidy fitting to make the chain taut as it would be against regulations but advised that we could if we wanted to but he couldn't. Does this sound right? Is the blind safe? The chain is quite high up and as I said has a breakaway mechanism. Thanks

Don't know, I always thought you had to fixing to attach to the wall so it's tight. The main risk is preventing a ligature if they get their head in it or wrap up in it. A break away cord would help with if they out their head through, but not the wrapping it around. You can get cordless ones in Dunelm which may be a safer choice.
