Speech and language delay

Hi all,

I have a 2.5 lb who has only a few words, he doesn’t use them consistently but when he does they are used appropriately.
He doesn’t point and does try to hand lead. I always try to discourage the hand leading by modelling pointing etc.
He is making a huge effort with words but he is struggling to get them out. He makes lots of sounds, he’s got excellent eye contact. He’s very responsive to his name being called, even if he’s in another room he only needs to be called 2/3 times and he comes. He is following basic instructions. Sometimes he responds to questions other times it’s like he doesn’t understand. His play is excellent, loves nursery rhymes. he does excellent pretend play with teddies, toy phone, animals, tractor and trailer. He’s starting to peddle his bike, starting 2 piece jigsaws and always seeks people to play with him. He has been with two different SLT who both think he has an expressive language and speech delay.
Has anyone been in a similar situation...I’m just looking for a bit of help with how I can encourage him to point to objects or things he want and how to get him to learn two step instructions.
