My 8 year old daughter is very whingy and moans a lot. She seems to find negativity and can create problems out of nothing. I start off the day on a cheerful note, and when the whinging starts, I try to reason and remain positive, but she goes on, and on until it wears me down. She seems to get into a frame of mind she can't get out of - like an OCD dissatisfaction with everything. Her clothes aren't right (this can go on and on, moving from one item of clothing to another), she can't draw the way she wants, her rother is annoying her....
If I'm doing a job where I can't help her, like cooking a big meal, she can't stand it and chooses to do something that needs lots of help, then cries over it.
I end up taking things away from her or putting her in her room to make it stop. She can ruin days out or the atmosphere for a whole day at home. I feel like I'm not enjoying being a parent. It affects my own mood.
I know people are going to say that perhaps she needs more attention, but I feel like she gets loads. At the moment, my DH and I are always at home doing things with the kids. I also can't be focused on her 1:1 for 100% of the time. She has a brother who also needs attention and jobs also need doing.
Anyone else relate to this?
