Baby carrier

HNY firstly! woken up in a bit of a panic. We were given a baby carrier - baby Bjorn. And we were told that they could face out from 3 months. When my LO started fussing facing in at 3 months I started facing him out. Last night we had him in the sling at home facing out and he seemed really happy but then over stimulated - we played some music and had a little dance. I randomly thought I would double check the carrier question and feeling so bad now. He’s nearly 4 months old so it’s been nearly a month facing out. I’m desperately worried that it’s caused hip damage and cognitive development issues. He’s in it once a day for a 40 minute walk. We always supported his head .... but still. I feel just terrible. Any reassurance massively appreciated.

Compared to the vast amount of stimulation a baby is exposed to day in day out just by existing, the stimulation received by forward facing in the sling a little earlier than is recommended is not going to have caused any cognitive issues. If babies brains were damaged that easily by overstimulation the human race would have been in trouble a long time ago. I also don't think 40 minutes a day would be enough to cause hip issues assuming his legs were in, or close to being an 'M' shape. Structured slings like the baby bjorn are very well engineered to prevent this. Slings are an absolute life safer so don't let this put you off. Good luck xx

Thanks. His legs weren’t in an M shape just hanging pretty much down ... but I’m not going to let it put me off. Thanks for true reassurance. We’ve just dialed down activity for a couple of days ... I am also realising that I think I’m suffering from anxiety so will try and speak to HV about it. Thanks again
