Talk to me about tip toe walking

My 2.5yo is tip toe walking, not all the time and only at home when she has no shoes on.

Is this always a red flag for something? When would it become concerning?

Thanks

At 2.5 and only when in bare feet I wouldn't think is anything to be concerned about.
My DD was toe walking at 3.5 in and out of shoes to the point it was making her quite clumsy.
GP referred her to paediatrics but nothing structural was found and it was put down to being habit.
We also had a physio assessment and were given stretching exercises to ensure her muscles weren't tightening by the toe walking, very easy to do at home, massaging her calf's and gently pushing her toes towards her while her legs were laid straight.
Playing games walking like a penguin, heels together and toes in the air, we'd have races across the room.
And a lot of encouragement/reminding to walk heel toe.
All things you could do now to prevent it becoming a problem later on.

No, its not a flag for anything at 2.5Y.

My just 3 year old DS still does this occasionally when just in socks. It’s decreased as time has gone on. No issues I’m aware of. Don’t worry.

@mamablondie33 does she wear shoes? What kind of shoes? Solid shoes with hard sole and with solid ankles contribute to this and most shoes I see on kids are not really suitable for baby feet.

Having said that I myself tiptoed through to my teens (and I still walk funny, I am reminded all the time) and I manage OK. Will give her nice legs later on, if nothing else :)
