Hi. I have a 6 year old ignores her gran. She blows hot and cold one minute she is nice to her then the next she completely ignores her as though she's not even in the room. Gran implys that is something I've said to my daughter to make her be like this. When I ask my daughter she just says she doesn't want to talk about it. I'm stuck in the middle.

I don't think she had to be a "good girl" and be nice to everyone but I think it's fine to have a chat about being polite and how Granny might be feeling.

If she has a genuine problem, that's fair enough but she can be polite to people however she's feeling about them.

I had this problem with our 8 year old so when her gramp came round and she ignored him I took her to the hallway and told her she can go to her room and stay there alone until gramp leaves because what she is doing is rude and makes people feel uncomfortable and I would take her to a room and make her sit alone even in someone else's house kids can learn very early to be choosy nip it straight in the bud take away something they enjoy so they understand how it feels good luck x
