10 months not much development

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas. I feel a bit deflated, my little boy is 10 months old today. He mastered sitting up about two months ago, rolled over just before four months. But has no interest in moving. No signs of crawling, won’t pull to stand or stand and hold furniture. I feel a bit like a failure! I don’t know what else to do, has anyone had similar problems xx

As you know, that is later than typical but that doesn't make you a failure, that just makes you the Mum of a little one who is a little bit delayed.
Have you spoken to your HV ?

This definitely doesn't make you a failure. You are concerned enough to notice and check in here, I think that makes you a great Mum.

I would mention that he does stand to the GP though. If he's not bearing weight, that just needs a check from a Dr.

As PP say, probably worth a check with your health visitor or GP, especially if he won't bear any weight through his legs, but perhaps also consider what he's doing beyond gross motor skills. Is he babbling, learning to clap or wave, getting better at feeding himself or bashing toys together? It might be he's just focusing more on communication or fine motor skills.

My youngest daughter sat on her bottom and did very little else until about 13 months. Then she pointed to things for her siblings to fetch. She never crawled, but bottom shuffled by scooting with one leg. She stood and walked within about a fortnight at, I think, around 15/16 months. By that point she could shout her demands to her siblings.

She ran steadily by 18 months and is amongst the most coordinated people I know. She has a first from a RG, speaks four languages fluently, danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet and can walk 100 yards on her hands easily.

Certainly nothing much you can do except get the GP to recheck the hips are fine. Then stop fretting. It’s not a competition and is no indication of parenting skills or future ability.

My DS couldn't do much at 10 months either. In fact he only rolled over at 8 months and was unsteady sitting until 10 months. From about 10.5 months he commando crawled very slowly, then quickly, then crawled, then pulled up and started cruising, then walked at 13 months. He is 16 months now and runs, walks backwards, spins around, dances, climbs everything. I saw so much change in 2-3 months so my advice would be just to wait and hopefully he will catch up soon.
