Formula advice 4 months old

For the formula feeding mums:

How much are you giving your 4mo old?
How often? and which brand are you finding best?

We are currently using SMA and my little one is quite prone to reflux, the guidance they give on the packet is 5x180ml but this seems too big in one go.

Please help me make sense of this :|

My baby is on SMA and has reflux too. At 4 months she was having 5 bottles a day.. I’d make up 180ml but she’d usually drink between 120-150ml.

If you’re not comfortable giving that much in one go, give smaller feeds but more frequently maybe?

How much they have should really go in weight rather than age.

So she should be having roughly 2.5 floz per pound in weight in 24 hours.

So if she's 15 pounds, that's 37.5 floz in 24 hours.

It doesn't really make a difference if she's happy with small bottles often or bigger ones more spaced out as the current advice is to follow her lead. The guidance on the carton, is just that, guidance and you do not have to follow it to the letter.

If she's refluxy though, I would think about swapping the brand to see if it helps. Have you tried adding Dentinox to the bottle as this can help too Smile
