Upset on Christmas Day as missing teachers...

Child had a great Christmas Day.....goes to bed seemingly happy then shouts 5 mins after we leave. Go up and they're all tearful and saying they're upset because they miss their teachers....😩

Cue half an hour of talking them down and trying not to jump out the window after trying to make the day go well.
Tell me they're just overwhelmed with the day and looking for something to get us back in there and not actually thinking about how much they miss their teachers on Christmas evening after a lovely day!?

It honestly sounds like one of those weird things kids say when they cant articulate their feelings....they probably felt sad the day was over or something like that...but couldn't put it into words.

Or just wanted more attention. I clearly remember at the age of about 5, I used to deliberately read my copy of Babes in the Woods because then I could cry and call down that I was scared....I'd been genuinely scared ONCE after having it read to me and used it as an excuse for attention after that!

Oh God kids are such funny buggars sometimes I really wouldn't think on it. Nothing has been good enough for my 2YO today. 'Do you do x/y/z?' 'Noooo' 'why not?' 'Because granny's house' Such a random answer lol but I think it's her way of articulating that she misses her extended family and that she found meeting up with them yesterday a bit overwhelming. I'm not taking it personally. Remember that it's been a huge year for them. They've been kept away from school/nursery (a massive part of their lives) for weeks and they will have missed the people there and be worried about them. Or they might just be saying the first thing that comes to their head lol. Just acknowledge that they're sad and move on. That's all you can do x
