Worried about autism

Hi
My ds is 1 year old ..not responding to his name most of the time especially when busy with things also doesn't point much but moves his hand and body if he wants something
Should I be worried about autism ..otherwise he is reactive ..interactive.. loves cuddles ...smiley ...I'm a really worried mum can't stop thinking about it
Has anyone experienced it with their baby and should I wait and see?

If he's not responding to his name, how's his hearing generally? Can they hear a sudden loud noise?

Mahazee · 13/12/2020 01:13

Thanks for replying his hearing seems good and does respond to sudden noises ... but I could be screeming and he wouldn't turn to look but sometimes he would and surprise me but very few times

If you are worried about ASD, once he's 16 months you can do the MChat Test but I really wouldn't do it before that age as he'll probably fail it and you could be worried for no reason Smile

Thanks for your advise... i have gone through MChat test but i will do as you said when he is 16 to 18 mths..
Its so hard when things are not clear I just hope he is OK

Mine didn't point until 14 months and liked to ignore me until 18 months.

These milestone books made me worry way too much, your baby sounds perfect - wait and see until you say no and he stares you dead in the eye and does it anyway. Cheeky little monkeys who we love so very dearly x

He'll get there, in his own time and if he hasn't by 18 months, that's when you can ask your health visitor, I'm quite sure that won't be necessary though. Sending lots of love.

Thanks so much for replying... thats a bit of a relief ...true these milestone books are keeping me under so much pressure ...baby not reaching a milestone gives so much stress !
It helps so much hearing from other mums their experiences ... thanks again
Just noticed he doesn't respond to his name but responds to hellooo! or if I take his name and say do you want this he would turn ...but not to his name on its own
He is cheeky though.. if I say no he would pause wouldn't turn and make a move again !
Will keep a watch thanks
