Rolling over only on mattresses

Hi all,

Hope you are well.

My 7 month old has been rolling over but he rolls over only on mattress (ONLY on soft surfaces). When i put him on his play mat (colourful foam mat) on floor, he just roll over comes to his tummy position and not turning or continue rolling over.

So i tried putting duvet on top of his floor play mat and on this he rolls over fine.

I think he doesn't like to rollover on floor or hard surfaces. Anyone had similar experience?

I think like you that he just doesn't like the feel of it on the hard floor. Do you have carpets or rugs?

Yes. We dint place him on the hard floor. We are placing him on the foam mat.

My LO was the exact same. Everything happened first in our bed untill she got the knack then she started doing it on other surfaces. She still is very cautious when it comes to new movements but I think thats just her personality coming through.
