3 year old stuttering getting worse

My 3 year old DS was delayed in his speech and it was just before his third neigh day when things finally ‘clicked’. Since then he’s been a happy, chatty and confident little boy with a great vocabulary.

Over the past month he’s developed a stutter and it’s getting noticeably worse. To the point today where he’s come home from nursery and is getting really upset and frustrated, saying his words are stuck and asking me to help him. His key worker said she has also noticed his frustration today and how much more noticeable it is compared to last week.

I spoke to a HV today who have me the number for a speech and language helpline. I’m waiting for a call back from a therapist next week.

I’m so concerned about it and it’s really upsetting to see him so distressed.

Has anyone got any experience of this or ways that we can help?

Thanks

No experience sorry but if finances allow, I'd consider seeing an SLT privately.
