Pushing others- help please.

My Ds nearly 3 is still pushing other children around, this started when he was 2.5, together with finding sharing hard too. I thought he'd grown out of it but apparently he's doing to others at nursery. He is curently waiting to be assessed for his speech, which is unclear( although I can understand him) I don't know whether these are linked. Anyone had any experience of this behaviour?

Does sound like frustration if it's chronic. Sorry I can't help, but will bump up for you.

Hi paradise (ahhh what a name!!!!)

all kids are different, and much as we want them to be perfect angels..(like us adults!!!!) they have their own 'issues'.
Try not to worry too much, nursery should be on his case a bit more.. sharing is ALWAYS biggy with kids.. so don't in ANYWAY think ds is out of the 'norm' (ha?!!- what on earth is that anyway!)

My daughter has had some pushing "issues" in the last few years and also some speech delay issues. It's pretty clear that to some degree, the pushing is an attempt at contact or expressed frustration where communication breaks down. We've found that the pushing is significantly reduced now (she's 5) as with time and loads of effort, including speech therapy, she understands more and expresses herself much more clearly. Hope that helps.

3 isn't that old and pushing can be a natural stage for some children. I think the important thing is to find out how nursery deals with it .. because every kid they have must do the same at some stage

as for sharing .. I always heard that didn't come properly until they're around 6 or 7 (yes some younger children do share easily but its not the norm)
