Hi

Does anyone know roughly how much an 18 month old should understand? I know they should have roughly 10 words that they can say but I don’t know how much they should understand.

Thank you!

I'd say a few simole commands like 'pass me that book' or 'get your shoes on' or 'sit down' and to be able to point tona few basic objects/animals when asked and a fair few of their body parts. Don't expect them always to listen though Grin by 2 you should expect following of some 2 step commands that are related such as 'go get me your toy then bring it to mummy' or 'put away your toy car and your toy doll' and then after that unrelated 2 step commands such as 'fetch me that ball and then go and put your shoes on' like everything it should be taken in context though like whethee your LO is pointing/clapping/waving and whether they have much expressive language etc. Hope that helps xx
