Toddler won’t talk!

My DD is is 26 months old and isn’t talking. She understands absolutely everything we say. She knows all the colours, 1-10 etc but won’t talk. She says about 10 words (mum, dad, up, down etc) but has not progressed at all recently. I spoke to the health visitor who wasn’t concerned at all because her understanding is so good and she is very social, loving and expressive. She said it will come in its own time but it’s frustrating for us all. I know everyone says this about their own child but she is exceptionally bright! and I know she has the ability to talk, it just seems like she just doesn’t want to! She was early doing everything else but speech is really behind. I was just wondering if anyone was in the same boat or has any suggestions to kick start the talking!?

Same here with DS only he is 29 months and only has about 10 words. He understands everything but simply won't speak. We do everything we can to encourage him, read all the time, point things out, talk to him all the time but nothing. I really don't think there is a huge amount we can do other than be patient. I am sure it will come in the next few months. Good luck!
