Teeth, or rather the lack of them!

DD was 1 yesterday and still only has 2 teeth (the botton 2). She got these at 9 months and there is no sign of any others. I have always been able to see them under her gums but none are coming through. I feel sorry for her because she struggles to eat stuff like apples etc.

I know there is nothing that I can do about this but i just thought I'd see if anyone elses littles ones were the same as every 1 year old that I meet has a gob full of shiny teeth!

Well, I can go one better (or worse) than that. My one year old daughter still has no teeth, not a single one. I was being pretty relaxed about it, as her cousin didn't have any teeth till about 10 or 11 months, but I am now worrying a bit I have to admit. She does seem able to eat most things, those gums are pretty hard! She has been very grumpy the last couple of weeks and I'm wondering if it's late teething pains.

my daughter didn't get any teeth at all till she was 14 months! She is now 3.5 and the last two are still not fully out. Am glad that my second child already has four at 8 months as personally I think the earlier the better to get it all out of the way!

my 1 year old has 8 teeth but are all at the front so although he can bite bits off he hasnt got molars to chew with - he does however manage to eat most thing by mashing them with his gums. He got his first 2 teeth at 5 1/2 months and got the others not long after that. He is due to get some pre-molars soon but it has definitely been longer than 2 months since he got the last ones. I dont think there is any rhyme or reason as to when they come through.

The bonjela teething chart gives an indication of which ones generally come first and the order that the rest come through.

My sisters youngest didnt have teeth till he was 14/15 months and then they all came through one after another. He had no problems eating without them either.

my friend slittle girl didnt get first tooth untill 17 mths all develop in different stages once another couple come through they'll all make an appearance just give hard things such as carrot stick to chew it will help to break solid gums
