Screaching Loudly - Help!

I am new at this Mum thing and would love any advice.

My usually good humoured 6 month old has recently started screaching as loudly as she can just for fun. Nothing is wrong, she just loves the sound of it. It is driving me MAD!!! Do I ignore it and hope it will go away as a phase? As far as I can tell 'No' does not mean a great deal at this age.

Also, whilst I am worrying, she won't stand if I try to get her to weight bear. Sometimes she tries a bit but not much and all the other babies in her group are standing. She has very strong legs and can soak anyone within 50 feet of a bath tub. Should she be weight bearing yet? She tends to do Ballerina Toes.

Thanks to anyone with any advice.

Ha! i have pictures of my ds at exactly six months, indulging in his daily bout of extreme screaming noises

It's obviously a 6 month old 'thing'. It didn't last long IIRC, though it seemed to at the time I'm sure! We used to be quite embarrassed by the noise and convinced the neighbours would call social services!

With the weight bearing thing, I'm sure ds was not at this age either. Don't worry. Just use this as the first chance to practice your mantra "ALL babies are different I WILL NOT COMPARE"

I found it hard at first not to compare, I think everyone does, but really, honestly, there's no point because there's nothing you can actually DO about this stuff; they all do it when they are ready and you have to trust your instinct as a mum; if you think there's nothing wrong, I'm sure there isn't; and it's just a case of her doing things in her own time.

Mine is 4 1/2 months and doing this too - actually it's more of a feral cat noise. Dear lord I can't wait until this phase passes. It will pass though, eventually.

Thank goodness we are not the only ones fearing the arrival of social services!!!
