Intense/High Needs Temperment - exhausting!

Hi All,

Since being a baby (colic, reflux, no sleep) we have noticed our son’s intensity. He is now 2 and me and DH find him an absolute joy but also so exhausting! Very clingy, startled easily, seems socially anxious with other children and still not sleeping well/through.

At first I thought something might be wrong as his level of screaming etc., when he tantrums alongside his temperament compared to their kids is quite noticeably different- he starts nursery soon part time, dreading it :///

Any advice??

Thx x

Discipline and empathy. Its important you as a parent respond in calm yet firm manner. Once he starts nursery they will not give him that extra time to deal with him as they have lots of kids to take care of - it would be a shock to him and could lead to isolation from other kids.
Make sure you don't allow these tantrums and learn sign before they even happen. He is still very young and sleep is super important in his age, if he is lacking on sleep that will add to his tantrums too -sleep deprivation etc. Have fun with him , take him out alot for walks/ play, make sure he has a down time too as overstimulated children can react in a way of frustration/ tantrums too. Remember balance and consistency is the key:)
