Silent 6 month old

Has anyone got/had a nearly 6 month old baby that doesn’t make any sound apart from crying and whinging?
No gargle sounds, no ba ba, mama, nothing.

I have spoken to my HV who suggested we make a referral to audiology. I do think my baby can hear- she reacts to loud sounds like the dog barking, door slamming etc. She turns her head if I call her from across the room, she responds to music if a toy starts to play or looks around when she hears the tv etc
I went with the hv’s advice as she said she may not be able to hear certain pitches, or could have fluid in her ear. There is a massive waiting list in general but also because of covid, so I rang a private company to see how much it would cost to to get a hearing assessment.
They were really good and an audiology nurse rang me and discussed it. She said from what I have told her she does not think that my baby has a hearing problem. She asked me if my baby ever has a ‘hoarse’ voice and funnily enough I always thought that when she is crying or whinging, and two other people have commented. We haven’t seen masses of people yet due to covid.
She is perfectly able to cry loudly, and when she was very new she had colic so she would sadly scream for hours no problem.
The audiology nurse advised me to speak to my GP about a referral to get her vocal chords checked, but would also run a hearing test in 2 months if this would help to reassure me.
She explained that babies all develop at different speeds but the fact that she is completely silent does need to be looked into.
Baby appears to be hitting other milestones- she sits up strongly, rolls in one direction, can hold objects and lift them to her mouth, smiles lots and laughs. Sometimes her laughs do have sound, often they are completely silent.
Sometimes she moves her mouth as though she thinks she is talking but no sounds come out.
I don’t want to compare to my older daughter as she spoke really early but the complete silence worries me.
Sorry for the long ramble, does anyone have any advice or has anyone experienced this?
Thanks in advance!

My baby was exactly the same. She was cooing and making “normal” baby sounds up until about 4.5 months old, then stopped and was completely silent all day other than when unhappy. She’s now 10 months and unfortunately there isn’t a vast improvement. She will occasionally blow raspberries and make the odd noises throughout the day. But predominantly very quiet. I’ve taken her for a hearing test which she passed, I have a paediatric appointment next week as I’m worried sick. Hope you get somewhere with your little one - I understand your worry though.

@ponny Hello. I no longer have concerns. My baby girl started babbling at 8.5 months and hasn't stopped and she's nearly 11 months.
