As above really. Mine is 2.5 and she was behind with her speech but more or less catching up and talks in full and long sentences. She asks 'what's that' and 'where's ....' but no 'why' yet not even as in 'but why' I know some people will think I'm mad wanting this phase lol but I just wondered when others did and do you think it had any bearing on their future social skills/language ability?

I think my son was about 3.

If children are interested, it is great. You have to worry when they do not ask anything.
My eldest son started asking "why" when he was 4. I told him not to eat ice cream before going to bed and then he lifted his surprised eyes and sincerely asked "Why? The younger one asks it all the time: why the hands on the watch are different, why the sky is blue, why chocolate is bitter. Sometimes I even get tired of it, but his smile when he hears the answer is worth it.

Watching with interest.
