Won't walk in shoes ?!? help

My ds is 14 months, and walking, but i have never really put shoes on him as i remember reading that it is better to let them learn to walk in bare/socked feet, but now he won't walk in shoes

The problem is, i think it would be better if i could get flexible shoes, like Clarks cruisers but his feet are too big, so i can only get rigid ones.

Anyone else had this?

TIA

my dd did this at that age...i would put the shoes on and it was like i'd superglued her feet to the floor.. it looked really funny

just keep trying, he will do it eventually. i just held her hand and encouraged her to walk. good luck

Yep - it reakky is only temporary, he will get his head round it soon after some practicing

I mean 'really'

Elescarybells...He won't even stand up, and he pulls them off, if you stand him up in them he just flops on his bum, at this rate ds will confined to a life indoors only

Never had this problem with dd, its weird.

are the shoes heavy pucca?

maybe trying some soft shoes first and work your way up?

pucca · 14/10/2007 21:28

Thanks Elescarybells, i have looked around for some soft shoes but he has big feet so can only get the hard soled type and he can't bend him feet in them...its driving me nuts!

my son did the same, but i suppose at that point we only really put shoes on him if we were going out so he would normally be in his pushchair then anyway!! he got over it within a few weeks!!

glaskham · 14/10/2007 21:30

what shoe size is he? there are some pretty flexible trainers on sale out there, i find the nike cortez style has a fairly flexible sole.....if that was something you wanted to try???

what about some daisyroots style shoes - they go up pretty big. that's all my daughter wears, she is 13 m and has been walking for a couple of weeks. you don't need to get shoes right away...save your pennies!

dd did exactly this - she FINALLY walked at 17 mths, I patiently waited for 6 weeks or so ... and she just refused to wear them/would take them off/scream at them (and she is a big shoes & bags girl ) lasted about 1/2 weeks - then she wore them all day for my cm, and that was that

Oooh will have a look, thanks

Last time he was measured which was July, he was a 5 1/2 (i think)
