My 10 month old ds isnt crawling/bum shuffling, he can sit up for long periods but all of a sudden will just throw himself back so have to sit with him ready to catch, he can roll and slide backwards on his tummy pushing himself with his arms to get to things when he really wants ,no first words or babbling as such more cooing noises,he doesn't pull himself up either not even in his cot.I'm get really concerned as it's not just one thing he seems to be behind on. Should I make a doctor/ health visitor appointment Or is he too young for them to be concerned? Any advice or reassurance please

My ten month old did the throwing back thing and has only recently stopped - I was so paranoid but one day it just stopped. I think it helped she can now get into the seated position from lying down so knows how to get out of it. Also she didn't crawl until ten months - she started the army shuffle and only this week began crawling but she's quite unsteady still at it and doesn't go far (but is getting more confident). She began babbling overnight - one day she didn't and the next she did. How are fine motor skills? I took my concerns about not pulling up and crawling to the health visitor more than once (she only rolled at six months and I worried about that too) but at every stage they reassured me that the ranges for these milestones are so big and she was still within them. Also crawling isn't a milestone at all. I googled some exercises to help with weight bearing well and she is doing much better at that and can stand if I put her in that position but hasn't yet mastered pulling up. I personally wouldn't worry (although I know I do worry!) because they mostly really do do things in their own time but i found the health visitor to be so reassuring about it and that helped a lot (and actually seeing lots of other babies made me realise all the things my daughter could do that I hadn't even realised was a milestone really!)

I also found seating her in front of the sofa with a scatter cushion propped up behind her but her not touching helped so if she did throw herself backwards she would be cushioned by it
