How to get 25 month old settled in new bed

We are due to have new baby within the week. Our 25 month old son started climbing out of his cot last week so we quickly bought him a small bed, lovely lights etc and his room looks great. He had been great sleeper before, but now he'll not sleep in day, even though he is sooo tired in the day, or go to sleep in new bed at night. Does anyone please have any advice on how to get him settled??

We moved our 2 year old in to his new bed last Sunday. We waited until night time bed time so he would be really tired, rather than an afternoon nap-could-stay-awake-tired.
He got up 4 times the first time, 2 the next, none the next and 1 yesterday after lunch.

Spend some time in his room, read stories on his bed, make it a nice place to be. He may be unsettled or a bit scared at the change. Good luck.

thanks, when he got up, did you put him straight back and did he settle? Our son just ran into our room and into our bed...

Well, ours have neevr slept in our bed and he wouldn't have done that as we weren't in bed. He got up the 4 times as soon as he went to bed really. We just put him back and otld him it was bed time. (not feeling good so no longer IWTBP)

He is still needs one of us to stay with him to get him to sleep at bedtime; then he wakes about 3am and comes runs straight into us. Should we let him stay or put him back in his bed and spend the hour on the floor getting him back to sleep there (to avoid wailing and gnashing of teeth)? Our new baby hasn't yet arrived but is due imminently... Any views/thoughts welcome, thanks

When my son switched to his bed we did the sitting next to the bed, then middle of the room, then by the door, then outside, then downstairs thing. It was a bit of a hassle as for a couple of weeks one of us would have to be sat in the dark, ignoring the repeated requests and conversations for sometimes up to two hours but it worked eventually. As for the day time, I never worked out what to do, mine went into his bed at two and in the nine months after that he was still having a daytime nap I had to put the travel cot up!!!! What a cop out eh?! I didn't find he woke in the night tbh but he's just started nursery now (3.1) and is up screaming the house down every night. We've gone for CC with putting him back to bed. We just go in, don't talk to him and put/wrestle him into bed. He's out again before I'm out of the room so we just leave him ten mins then repeat (i've got a gate on the door). Been doing that for a week and last night was the first night we had any success. Took two hours!! Good luck, I really feel for you!
