What should a 3 month old be doing?

Sorry if this sounds dim but what exactly should a 3 month old be doing, roughly? DD2 will sit her bouncy chair kicking or lie on her mat occasionally hitting the things hanging up or look in the mirror for a mx of about 10 mins. I try and give her things to hold, she just drops them. She isn't interested in the tv, not that bothered when I sing to her. Hates being put on her tummy?Is there something I am missing? Just seem to remember dd1 doing more at this age?

God no, all sounds perfectly normal. The mirror for 10 mins sounds at the upper range of what you might expect for a 3 month old. Singing you do because later on it will pay dividends, telly is a complete non-starter. Chair and mat, that's where it's at!

no sounds about right to me. DS was pretty much the same the tummy thing we did 1 min or and built it up but is about the same.

There are some nice books - with black and white images and faces - that babies love to look at. We have a few - like this one from the NCT and DSs just looked at them. It's good for their eye development aparently.

Not much, I think. I remember being really worried about my daughter at three months. She did nothing - couldn't move really. Would lie on her mat and occasionally bat at her toys on her baby gym. Really your daughter sounds absolutely fine. My daughter first laughed at about four months and from there on started to engage.

She's one year tomorrow and is now tantrumming toddler-style (!) so please don't worry.
