Silliness in a 10 year old boy

My 10 year old son seems to be silly a lot of the time. He just can’t seem to help himself. I’m not sure why he does it but doesn’t seem to be able to stop. I explain that he will loose his friends as they will get tired of it.

Anyone have any advice or similar situation?

My son is similar. He just appears a little more immature than many of his peers. My mil tells me that dh was slow to mature and i wonder if this is just an hereditary thing?
I do find pointing out that his behaviour is 'silly' helps him reign it in but I want to balance that with not wanting to be giving out to him all the time..
