18 month old won't stop hitting - I am mortified

Hi all

Really looking for some advice on what to do.
My LB has been going through phases of hitting for the last 4 months on and off. This week in particular has been bad but more so today. On a Friday he attends a 1 hour football class and I just wanted the group to swallow me. He wouldn't stop hitting the other children and I was constantly chasing him telling him no, trying to move his hand in time and apologising to parents.

I felt so low and was counting down the minutes to the class finishing.

Does anyone have any tips on what to do? I really do not want this to become a trait that sticks with him. I am so embarrassed about it and just wish he wouldn't do it. He will occasionally bite too but usually only to whomever is looking after him, he has never bitten another child (yet! and thank god!) he usually does not hit me, today he did when I gave him into trouble. He hits my husband a lot as he does with his grandparents. I am at my wits end with this.

Help please!

It is common at that age but I know that's of no help to you. If he's doing it in an activity like football or at a family gathering I would tell him 'no hitting' firmly and take him away from the group. If he's doing it at football then make him sit out with you or just take him home.

It will pass but I know it's awful when you're in the moment.
