19 month old speech delay and poor sleep

Wondered if any of you could advise on things I should get checked, if any. 19mDD has no words and barely babbles. Can say ‘ah’ and ‘prrr’ and hums (happily) a lot. Hearing test showed nothing of note. We have a SALT session coming up but otherwise doctors are generally unconcerned.
She’s also always been a very poor sleeper and wakes upset often. Only breastfeeding will settle her. My instinct tells me there could be a physical/medical issue linking these things but I’m not sure what or how to convince the docs to get her checked. I asked about tongue tie but they said that wouldn’t prevent speech, just make it unclear. She did have terrible reflux for the first year of her life but that seems to have resolved now.

Have any of you had similar? What help should I be asking for? Many thanks.

Should add, her development is all on track in other ways and she is generally engaged and bright. Just a bit grizzly when away from mum...!

It sounds like a speech delay, very common at this age. Have you contacted SALT? or asked to be referred by your HV?

Opps, just noticed that you said that you have a SALT appointment, that would be a great start. A speech delay is not concerning and very common. There are many play based speech therapy techniques that you can do at home, many examples in youtube.

My 19 month old doesn’t talk yet ( he can say a few words only )! I’m only a little worried as everyone keeps telling me it’s completely normal to be behind with talking at this age . Both my husband and I were delayed talkers so I was half expecting this . If he’s not talking by two then I will speak to my health visitor about speech therapy .
