Having a nightmare with my 10month old DS with Sleeping

My DS will be 10months old and slept in our bed up until he was 5 months. Put him in the cot and took to it really well. The problem we are having is the following:- i)he has a dummy and if he's not in a certain state of sleep and it falls out he will just SCREAM. ii) our house isn't big enough to leave him screaming too long and he will wake up my 6 year old DD. iii) in the day he does not wear his grobag, which means he gets his arms & legs stuck and at night he turns himself around, so either his head is getting squashed or his body. I'm really at my wits end and don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do. My hubby wakes early for work 2am & I'm getting stressed. I start work at end of Jan for 3 days and week and don't know how I will cope without proper sleep. Any advice would be great, .

Hi, sorry to hear you are having such a bad time. It may be worth posting this on the sleep thread, where you might get more replies?

My DD is nearly 11mo, and we sometimes have difficult nights with her. She is a thumb sucker, so we do not need a dummy. However, I found that I could not manage to rock her off to sleep in my arms - she is too heavy - so we instigated a sleep routine and then did cc. Not sure what you mean about problems with the gro bag?

There are also some really good books on getting babies into sleep routines, just take a look on Amazon, or I'm sure someone will come along who can recommend some good titles.

It may also be worth talking it over with your HV to see what they advise?

ddmacker, can you or dh sit next to ds until he falls asleep - so that if his dummy falls out, you can just shove it back in?

Once he is asleep, does he sleep well or wake frequently?

Does he wake if he gets his head or body squashed?

We don't have a problem getting him to sleep it's when he sleeps or doesn't should I say. His dummy falls out about 6 times a night and we have to go in and put it back. Also when he doesn't hasn't his grobag on he gets his arms or legs stuck on the sides of the cot and wakes screaming, the grobag is fine but won't use in the day, as I think DS associates the grobag with night time.
