EFYS 2 year review

Hi all,

I received my son's 2 year review from nursery this morning. After the comments it will read 30-50 (which I assume is month in age) followed by one of the following developing/secure or emerging. My son is 30 months now. Does anyone know what developing secure or emerging means in this framework? I will be calling the nursery on Monday but wanted to see if I could find anything out before then. TIA

Developing/secure tends to mean that he has achieved or achieving that goal, that he is doing it frequently and getting better every time. Emerging means that he has done/dose it occasionally so is just starting to show.

PP is correct.

I’ve completed hundreds of these two year checks as part of my role!

One thing I always say to parents is to take the checks with a pinch of salt / remember that we can only go by what we actually witness. So if you tell me that your child can speak in full sentences, but due to shyness of whatever reason they only say single words at nursery, then I can only assess those single words.

So basically if you don’t agree with something or are worried, just remember that it is only how your child presents in one environment!
