Hi i just took my 2 year old to nursery open day were he was allowed to interact with other children. He is absolutely obsessed with cars amd there was 3 cars on the table out side he went straight for them anr wouldn't share and if i took them off him he would have a terrible tantrum about it :( hes just recently turned 2 is this normal behaviour? We had to go so i told him we have to say goodbye to the cars now and he kicked off again then and screamed so loud i was so embarrassed please tell me its not just me xx

It's not just you and it is always difficult to teach your children when they are so young as they don't understand everything.

Try teaching him to share at home, using the following methods.

Ask him if you can borrow the toy he is playing with, if he let's you play for a few seconds then give him it back. Keep repeating and keeping it for a bit longer each time, but try not to rush it.

If he is not wanting to pass you his toy, buy a new toy and after he has refused to share, play with the new toy where he can see you. When he comes over to try to play with it, only give him it after he has given you the toy he initially didn't want to share.

Removing a toy as punishment for not sharing may work, but equally it will probably cause a meltdown and may make it worse as he could start to think anything taken from him he wont get back.
