Hi all,
I’m probably worrying about nothing (again) but I thought I’d see if anyone else has experienced these behaviours in their six month old!
DS violently slaps his hands on his thighs when he’s excited, wants something, is frustrated, etc. He does them one at a time, not both together. So he doesn’t just sit there doing it for no reason, but it is frequent. If you make a game of it, he will take turns with you. He hand flaps when playing with toys (like to turn a twisty toy) but doesn’t do it when just sitting.
He also doesn’t babble, but he is very vocal with shouting and screeching (happily most of the time, thankfully!).
He isn’t particularly cuddly but does engage well with me, looks when I say his name, sing a song, laughs and smiles, etc.
He’s also started to make a cough like sound often, mostly when he wants my attention.
Would you be concerned about these behaviours or am I just being over anxious? It’s the arm flailing that’s bothering me most as it seems unusual and repetitive.
I would ask my HV but our relationship broke down so I can’t trust a word that comes out of her mouth!
