It's perfectly normal, children have more sensitive hearing than we do.

Hand dryers are a common problem as they are not just loud, but the fact it is a sudden noise makes it scary for them.

I always reassure and warn them that there is a hand dryer. I’m going to use it - it will be loud and give the the opportunity to turn away/ cover ears. I do try to get them used to it by playing a fun game eg if you have a leaflet or Soap bubble wand it can be fun to play around with the sudden gust! I would avoid refusing to use them- they are a part of life nowadays- even in schools so I think do some gentle exposure therapy can help.

Yep! My son is the same, he's 3.5. I don't know what to do about it.... He had u diagnosed glue ear and persistent ear infections until he had grommets at 3. I honestly think he has a bit of ptsd from the pain he had am for that first part of his life! It caused a speech delay (which immediately went away after his grommets!) amongst the other issues!
Anyone have any tips? Any sudden loud noises frighten him :(
