Is it ok to start swaddling again at 12wks old?

We swaddled for the first few wks and then abandoned it because we thought Ruth didn't like it. However we did it again last night because she seemed to be waking herself up with the flailing arms more than ever and she slept the best she ever did? Do you think it is ok to carry on like this even though she is 12 wks old and they say don't do it after 3 mths?

I started doing it again at 3months! Magical. Please don't tell me it's 'forbidden'......why?

We swaddled until about 5 mths I think - then we moved to a Grobag for nights but still occassionally swaddled for daytime naps where DD couldn't otherwise settle.

Can't see why you shouldn't continue if she likes it and it helps her sleep.

I remember reading something about preventing them from learing arm coordination (!) but that seems like rubbish unless you are keeping them swaddled 24 hrs a day.

Go for it and enjoy the sleep.

Carry on.

DS's story much the same as yours. I swaddled him until he was 9mo!

Thanks, glad you have said this. From waking 3 or 4 times 2 nights ago, since being swaddled she has only woken once!
