my 14month old is active, happy, sleeps well, eats well, plays well on his own and with me and dad, loves his dog and follows her any time he can. Walking more confidently on his own every day. He points and gets items if i ask him to get his green car he gets it and gives it to me. He understands alot of language however he only says dada and yes. Is this normal, should he be speaking more by now? Or as he understands is he developing ok?
He is my first and was a cryptic pregnancy so we only found out he was coming 3 days before being induced at 41.5 weeks!!!!

He sounds like he is doing really well!! He is only 14 months old so really early to be worrying about speach. Just make sure you read lots of books together and always expose him to new vocabulary. I am sure you are doing a fab job!!

Thanks thats a relief to hear someone else say! I haven't met any other mums or seen other babies as by the time I was healed and ready to find a baby group covid hit so my son has only seen my friends 6 year old daughter and we haven't really left the house other rhen to go to local shop its quite isolating

Yeh sounds fine. Really encouraging that he understands so well. Look out for gestures like waving and clapping and especially pointing and if none of that by 18MO then reassess things and do the MCHAT screening (quick screen for risk of ASD. Can be found on Google but not worth doing til 18MO at least) he sounds very similar to my LG. Not saying a whole bunch til 18MO then a series of 'langusge explosions' from this point at now at 28MO starting to talk quite well and singing bloody baby shark all day even though I never played her that damned ear worm singing really nicely.
