TOILET TRAINING HELP!!!!!!

My son is three and showing no sign of using potty or toilet. I tried in summer putting him in pants but he just wet them and took them off he wont use the potty and will sit on the toilet but wont do anything. Has any one got any ideas or had similar problems.

I've been there.
At 3 DS was not interested. Wouldn't even sit on the toilet. Physical struggle if I tried to get pants on him so I didn't bother just gave him nappies.
He was toilet trained in the daytime age 3.3
He just wasn't ready before.

so did you just keep trying because ds is 3.3 now or did your ds just have a change of attitude

Only advice I can give is let your DS take the lead on this one. He will let you know when he is ready. If you try to rush things before he is ready it could be a long stressful process.

I started training my DS1 at 2.6 as I thought he was showing all the right signs of being ready. It took 8 months to get him fully trained not to mention the stress and heartache involved!! It's just not worth rushing and putting the 2 of you under unnecessary pressure.

I tried when he was 2.11. Complete failure. So I let it rest.

When he was 3.3 it was summer and he was outside without pants on and weed down his leg so we showed him how to wee standing up against a tree. Next time he needed a wee inside he wanted to go outside to do it so we showed him how to wee nto the toilet'like Daddy'. That was it. Very few accidents.

He asked for a nappy for poos for a couple of weeks and then agreed to sit on the toilet.

Try not to panic, we pushed ds when he turned 3 and he was definitely not interested.

As he was our first, we did not know any better and because we kept on pushing him, potty training took AGES (wont tell you how long, it will embarrass me and depress you)

They will do it when they are ready and not before...
I know that my dd is a girl and so a completely different kettle of fish, but we waited till she was ready and left her to decide and potty training took 8 days

Talk to your hv if you are worried, but I would suggest that you just step back, try not to worry about what everyone may or may not think and let him tell you when he is good and ready. Gook luck

No way was my DS ready at 3, but at 3.6 he was trained day and night in a couple of weeks (we went cold turkey except for night nappy which he asked to take off a few days later).

I had experimented on and off with putting him in pants if a nappy change was needed late in the day (say 5ish). The first few times he was pretty oblivious but there came a day when he wet himself, got upset and started shouting "Oh no, wee!" as he felt it spreading down his trousers. That's how I knew he was ready.

When we got rid of the nappies ,we found the prospect of a small prize worked wonders with getting him to learn to let go on the toilet.

Don't worry, your DS will get there when he is good and ready.
