Whats the best stair gate to attach to banisters?

My little one is everywhere so I'm now looking at stairgates. I am not sure whether it will work attaching to the wall on one side and then a spindal on the other - I know I may sound totally stupid but I would love any help on this...

We had a screw-fitted roller one which was fine for this purpose - it came with special attachments for bannister attachment - think from memory it was this one but might have been a different brand
