6 week check up, HC above 90th

Has anyone else had a similar experience at 6 week check up? Baby weight and length between 9th-25th centile but HC is 91st :/ At birth her HC was on 50th. The HCA didn't seem concerned and said she would measure again in a month but I am paranoid this indicates hydrocephalus. I hadn't noticed her head looked big/out of proportion though, so it is only the measurement today that is worrying me!

We had this at my son's 6 week check and he was referred on to a paediatrician. I can't remember his actual HC now but I have a feeling it was just off the scale!!
Paediatrician wasn't concerned after looking at him developmentally and measuring our heads. Turns out my husband and I both have larger than average heads. He said this is common in families where larger heads are more common. Both my Mum and I have always had trouble finding hats that fit our heads! Might be worth considering. Our son is 4 now and although not noticable he does have a larger than average head.

Both my children had larger than average heads as babies, - but it wasn't noticeable as they had a lot of hair.

I have a large head for a woman - 5ft 6in, less than 9st, but I can never find hats to fit in high street shops like Monsoon etc. I remember being fitted for my riding hat as a child (aged around 10), and mine was bigger than my Dad's Grin.
Try not to worry, your LO is very likely to be fine.

both my kids were similar, DS was 50th for height / weight and 98 for hc

Thanks for your replies, this has made me feel a bit better! Hopefully it won’t be an issue.

My ds (13 weeks) head is off the scale. It’s nowhere near the top percentile. Nobody has ever questioned it and we’ve been to hospital quite a few times! He was a big (11lb 😱) baby. My first baby is the same. He was a small baby. Their heads look normal and in proportion. His head is off the scale as well! Measured mine and guess what? Off the scale too. We’ve all got big heads!

Both my kids are 99th percentile for heads. It's obviously genetic. Have you measured your own? We did and worked out that my boyfriends was 91st and mine 99th. 😂

@Amanduh ditto. And before I measured our heads I was taking the piss out of my boyfriend saying my baby must have inherited his massive head. Turns out mine is bigger. 😂
