Is there anyone out there that is an advocate of the 50's style of raising babies???

I realise it came across as totally draconian and scary in the bringing up baby TV programme(I found watching it that I was a cross between 60's and 70's style which surprised me as I thought the 70's style was a bit out there when I started watching it) but I would be really interested to know if there are any mum's that prescribe to the 50's style. I like to be open minded about these things and would like to know why somebody would choose this particular style and also whether it works?

no and i hate when my mother does things like puts the carrycot into the back of the car instead of the car seat and then says "well it worked fine for you"
